David HerbstAssociate Pastor/Youth Pastor

I grew up in a Christian household where my father served as a deacon since I was born. The Lord has crafted a beautiful mosaic in my life. I am grateful that He died for a sinner like and has called this sinner to ministry. It was at age 15 during youth camp that I affirmed my call to ministry. I went on to receive an undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies at Hardin Simmons (2014) and a Master of Divinity through Abilene Christian University (2023).

The Lord put me at Lytle South Baptist Church in 2020 where I had the privilege to work as the youth minister. Many of these students formed relationships with me that I will never forget. They all showed the love of Christ to me. In 2024, the church brought me on as Associate Pastor.

One parable I always go to with my testimony is the parable of the two debtors in Luke 7. One owed the money lender 50 denarii while the other owed 500 denarii, but the money lender forgave them both. Jesus asks, “Which will love the lender more?” Simon the Pharisee replies, “I suppose the one with the greater debt.” When we realize how much Jesus has forgiven us from, we are going to love Him more. That is what Jesus does with me every day. I see how much more He saves me both from sins I have committed, but also sanctification. The Lord has changed my life. Praying the Lord advances His kingdom at Lytle South.
